Logista consolidates as one of the world leaders fighting climate change

  • Only European distributor included by CDP in its “A List” for the third consecutive year
  • Only 4 Spanish companies and 126 worldwide have been recognized

Logista has been recognized for the third consecutive year as one of the world leaders fighting climate change.

CDP has acknowledged the Logista Group’s actions during the last year to cut its CO2 emissions, mitigating environmental risks and developing a low-carbon economy.

After an independent assessment of information provided by 93 Spanish companies, only 4 are included in CDP’s “A List” fighting climate change, implying a 56% reduction when comparing with the Spanish companies included in the “A List” last year.

Worldwide, Logista is one of the 126 companies in the “A List” fighting climate change after assessing data from nearly 7,000 companies, after which only 1.8% of them were worthy of making the “A List”.

CDP has assessed the comprehensiveness of the information disclosed by the Logista Group, its awareness and management of environmental risks, as well as its demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets.

Logista is the only European distributor achieving this acknowledgement in the last three years.

CDP is an international non-profit organization that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. It is the preferred climate research provider by investors and works with institutional investors with assets of $87 trillion. Over 7,000 companies with over 50% of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2018, in addition to over 750 cities, states and regions.

CDP already distinguished Logista as a “CDP Supplier Leader 2018” for its performance in the “CDP’s Supply Chain Program”, a program it has participated in since 2010.

Also, Logista is part of the FTSE4Good index, consisting of companies with solid environmental, social and corporate governance practices.

The Logista Group calculates since 2013 the carbon footprint of all its businesses and services in the different countries where it operates, including the Group’s outsourced activities, as those by outsourced transport vehicles, franchises and indirect activities, as well as the purchase of products and services, water consumption or waste generation.

This calculation is based on internationally recognized rules and standards and is externally verified under the UNE-EN ISO 14064 standard by a certified independent entity, ratifying the figures and the process reliability and traceability.

Among the Group’s environmental initiatives, it is worth highlighting that over 90% of the Group’s facilities use renewable-produced electricity, including every directly managed centre in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal,.

Also, Logista has already implemented the system for the use, recovery and reutilization of cardboard boxes at its centres in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal, as well as in its Nacex network.
The Group also cuts emissions with the ongoing optimization of transport routes and the renewal of fleets’ agreements including efficiency criteria.

Integra2 is incorporating vehicles with less polluting fuels, Nacex already has electric vehicles in its fleet and promotes purchasing electric vehicles by its franchises and Logesta keeps incorporating the most efficient technology, prioritizing Euro VI engines and Green Tech technology.

Logista is the leading distributor of products and services to proximity retailers in Southern Europe, serves hundreds of thousands of points of sale in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal, and facilitates the best and fastest market access to tobacco and convenience products, electronic top-ups, pharmaceuticals, books, publications and lotteries, among others.
